And then there were three | Marblehead Family Photographer

Last Friday I got to spend the morning with A and N and their three month old sister A.

A is the best big sister. Don’t you love their matching Tea dresses? It kind of made me want another little girl. I know I could dress Josh and Sam the same but somehow it just doesn’t seem like as much fun.

And N, he LOVES Thomas. It’s quite possible that Thomas is hiding behind him, between them or on someone’s lap in almost all of the pictures of the three of them.

And then little Miss A. Look at those big eyes. Just beautiful.

Have you ever seen such a strong three month old? I couldn’t believe how well she could hold her head up. I have a feeling that she’s going to have no trouble at all keeping up with her big sister and brother.

Yesterday morning while I was doing dishes Josh started giggling. I turned around and saw this.

It’s kind of hard to tell, but he’s sitting up in the swing. Ready to jump out. He’s getting so big, so fast. It makes me happy and sad all at the same time.

Welcome Home Hope! | North Shore MA Family Photographer | Adoption Photographer

Last October, Claire contacted me to see if I would be available to accompany her family to the airport and photograph the homecoming of their daughter, Hope. I remember reading the e-mail and getting goosebumps on the top of my head and tearing up. She didn’t have a date, but was hopeful that it would happen in January. She warned that there would only be a few days notice and was concerned that I might not be able to do it with a new baby of my own. I didn’t hesitate for a second. I knew the minute she asked that I had to be a part of it.

January came and went. Claire updated me regularly and was hopeful that they would get the call to say Hope would be coming home any day. Last week, the long awaited call came and twenty-seven months after they started their adoption journey, Claire, Rusty and their son welcomed Hope home.

I know there’s a ridiculous number of pictures here, but I had such a hard time narrowing it down. I was hoping to post a slide show, but after spending hours trying to figure out how to post it, I officially gave up. If you scroll quickly and listen to this you can pretend you’re watching one.

On Tuesday night, I had the honor of going to the airport with a family to meet their daughter, adopted from Korea, for the first time. I knew the minute that I took this picture that no matter what else I captured that night or the rest of this week, this would be my 52 | 12 image. This is Claire looking through the window as the plane that her baby girl was on pulled up to the gate.

She’d been dreaming and praying for this moment for the last twenty-seven months. I think her face says it all.
